Welcome to Penguin Class!
I hope you’ve had a fantastic summer and are feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting year ahead. Year 6 is a very special year filled with new challenges, opportunities, and memories to make. I am looking forward to helping the children learn, grow, and achieve their very best. Welcome back – I can’t wait to get started!

**Important Information**
- The weather is wetter and colder, please ensure your child has a coat and that it is named.
- Please also check all cardigans and jumpers are still named.
- Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day and book school dinners online in advance.
Our PE days are: Monday and Thursday
Please come to school dressed in your PE kit on these days with earrings removed or taped and hair tied back.

Term 1 - Revolution
What did the Victorians do for us?
Are you listening? What is 27 plus 45? Come on, faster now. We haven’t got all day. Find out about super strict schools by travelling back in time to a Victorian classroom. Make sure that you’re on your best behaviour though, as punishments are unquestionably terrible. Discover a time when great minds thought new thoughts and ingenious inventors created so many things that we take for granted today: the electric light bulb, the telephone and the first flushing toilet. Let’s forge ahead to research a time when Victoria was Queen and Albert was Prince Consort, and when some people lived in slums while others prospered. Take on the role of an important reformer and present your good causes to the Queen. Can you gain the support of a wealthy sponsor? Full steam ahead to the Victorian age!
**HOME LEARNING**
Please ensure that your child reads 5 times a week and that you are supporting them to login into Times Tables Rockstars and Ed Shed daily. Your child's login details can be found in their reading record. We will be monitoring this in class every Friday.
Spellings will be given to some children on Fridays to be learnt by the following Thursday.
If you require further support, please find someone in the Penguin Class team.
Times Table Rock Stars
Children from Year 1 upwards will receive a username and passwords for Timetable Rock stars. This allows them to practise and prepare for the multiplication check at the end of Year 4.
