Welcome to Dove Class!
Hello, Dove Class I hope you’ve had a fantastic summer! I am looking forward to our year ahead and I hope you're too! I am looking forward to getting to know you all!

**Important Information**
- The weather is wetter and colder, please ensure your child has a coat and that it is named.
- Please also check all cardigans and jumpers are still named.
- Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day and book school dinners online in advance.
Our PE days are: Monday and Thursday
Please come to school dressed in your PE kit on these days with earrings removed or taped and hair tied back.

Term 1 - Towers, Tunnels and Turrets
Why was Dover Castle built?
See the castle ahead? Get ready to invade its mighty walls. Shoot a projectile with an archer’s aim. Head across the drawbridge, over the moat and up to the top of the tower. Meet Rapunzel who lives in a tall, tall tower. Let’s build a brand new one. Whose is the tallest? Can you measure it? Then dig deep, deep down, making burrows and tunnels, just like the animals who live underground. What’s that sound? I hear little hooves going trip, trap, trip, trap, over the rickety bridge. Watch out for the angry troll underneath. He likes to gobble up little girls and boys. Make sure your bridge is sturdy enough to take our weight and get us safely to the other side. And finally, meet three little pigs who need your help to build a strong fortress. Inside its strong walls, they’ll be safe from the big, bad wolf. No huffing and puffing will blow your fortress down.
**HOME LEARNING**
Please ensure that you listen to your child read 5 times a week and that you are supporting them to login into Times Tables Rockstars and Ed Shed daily. Your child's login details can be found in their reading record. We will be monitoring this in class and changing reading books every Friday. If you finish reading your book before, then please re-read it for fluency. We will be sending home 2 reading books: 1 based on their reading level and 1 book of their choice.

Times Table Rock Stars
Children from Year 1 upwards will receive a username and passwords for Timetable Rock stars. This allows them to practise and prepare for the multiplication check at the end of Year 4.
