Wednesday 13 May 2026 Art - Can I create sculptures inspired by Yayoi Kusama? After exploring Kusama's beautiful and colourful art, we have used our learning from the visual elements of flowers to create a flower sculpture using paper plates and our choice of paint. Some us were able to mix the colours that we wanted building from our previous learning of the colour wheel.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 Science - Do plants need water to grow? We have learnt that germination is the process when seeds begin to grow into plants.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 RE - Can I retell the bible story of The Road to Emmaus? Dolphin Class have retold the bible story of the road to Emmaus. They have explored their own thoughts about how the disciples felt when they were walking with Jesus and when Jesus broke the bread. We then role played the story to really consider the reactions of the disciples.

Friday 1 May 2026 Art - Can I express my understanding of texture? We have explored textures of flowers and looked closely at the petals and leaves. We have then created a texture effect of petals.

Tuesday 28 April 2026 Maths - Can I measure length in metres? This week we have been exploring measurements in metres. One of our challenges was to measure the width of the school hall in teams. We can confirm that it was 8 and a half metres!

Monday 27 April 2026 Maths - Can I measure length and height using non-standard units of measure? We have been using a variety of non-standard units of measure to measure length. We were able to use our problem solving skills to find out why we needed a consistent unit and that it is not helpful to use a combination of different items. Through trial and error we have been very successful.

Friday 24 April 2026 Art - How can I express my understanding of shape and form? We have been able to delve more deeply into the visual elements of flowers. We have focused on the shape and form of the flowers that we have explored using a variety of techniques. We were very proud of the end results.

Tuesday 21 April 2026 History - What were schools like in Victorian times? This week, we have begun to explore another period in history and been able to think about what schools were like during the Victorian period. As historians, we have been able to use photographs to understand the differences and similarities between schools then and schools now.

Tuesday 21 April 2026 Science - What do plants grow from? We have looked at our prior knowledge of plants and seeds and what they need to grow. We then explored 2 seeds - one had been soaked in water. We were able to notice the changes to this seed and peel off the seed coat. We were then able to find out what this layer was for and why do seeds have it.

Tuesday 21 April 2026 Maths - Can I make equal groups when sharing? We have explored sharing with equal groups. Using physical resources alongisde ten frames and bar models has secured our understanding.

Wednesday 1 April 2026 D& T - Can I evaluate something that I have made? We have been able to test our vehicles and evaluate whether it met the design criteria. Did it travel in a straight line? Did the wheels turn? Could it move backwards and forwards? We built ramps as a way of testing our vehicles and we were very pleased with the results.

Tuesday 31 March 2026 Geography - Can I compare two countries in the world? We have been able to compare and contrast two countries in the world - England and Somalia. We found out that somethings were similar - both border an ocean and both border other countries. We were surprised at some of the things that were different.

Friday 27 March 2026 D&T - Can I create and design the body of a vehicle? We have created and designed a chasis for our vehicles. We have been able to mark out places for the axles to sit so that we can add the wheels.

Tuesday 24 March 2026 PSHCE- Who can help us? Underpinned by the understanding that we are created to love God and others,we have explored different scenarious to help us understand what action we should take in an emergency situation. We have role played a variety of scenarios and discussed as a class what the outcome should be.

Friday 20 March 2026 D&T - Can I mark & cut out a piece of card to create a chasis? As part of our Design and Technology project, we have explored card construction techniques and worked together to mark out, cut and join together sections of card. We needed to ensure that we worked together so that our lines were straight. We held our friends rulers and helped each other cut out the chasis ready for the next part of our project.

Wednesday 18 March 2026 Geography - Using a map, can I find out some of the characteristics of the UK? We have been building on our Atlas skills and finding out some of the characteristics of the UK including the climate and weather, if there are any mountains and the famous landmarks. We have noticed that the UK is an island which will help us in our next few Geography lessons as we explore the world further.

Tuesday 17 March 2026 English - Can I innovate a story? We have been generating new ideas for our story of Grandma Bird by Benji Davies. We have created a new receipe idea for Grandma with our partners and then been able to think of our own. We will now start to write our own version.

Thursday 12 March 2026 D&T - Can I create a vehicle with a wheel and an axle? We have explored a range of every day vehicles. With our understanding of wheels and axles we have been able to create our moving vehicles.

Tuesday 10 March 2026 Music - Can I play in a band? After our weeks of practice and learning the notes of the Boomwhackers, we have been able to perform to each other in small groups as part of a band. We have worked very hard to listen and grown in confidence with our performances.
